If last year was any indicator, this winter could be very wet and very cold. It's time to get moving on chores that will help to preserve your property through the winter.

  • Remove leaf buildup from gutters to prevent clogging and winter weather from destroying your eaves.
  • Plow under your dead garden and get a load on horse manure on top to kill off all the weeds and start the decomposition process.
  • Clear out drainage ditches of dead fall now so that in midwinter you don't need to do it again.
  • Move things to storage now (and keep it organized) so that you are not wading around piles that should have been moved.
  • Raise your storage areas up on pallets so that winter dampness doesn't destroy those old pictures in the bottom of cardboard boxes.
  • Get your water-heater and furnace checked by a professional and have your ducts cleaned.
  • Close up crawl space doors around your foundation to prevent drafts and damage to ductwork when animals come seeking warmth.
  • Clear the yard of debris and obsticles that when burried under snow could ruin your day.
  • Strengthen or replace those old fences that could be blown down.
  • Install extra insulation in your attic.

There is always much to do and HandyOne is here to help.
