We are finally getting the speed upgrade we've been waiting for!
Dear Customer,
We wanted to let you know about a hardware upgrade we'll be performing that affects the Microsoft SQL database(s) associated with the domain listed above (affected server: SQLB24).
We'd like to point out, however, that this upgrade isn't a typical move to new hardware -- this is much more significant and, to say the least, much more exciting.
Between the hours of 2-5 AM PDT (GMT -7) on Wednesday morning, August 18, 2010, we'll be migrating your database(s) to a new, highly available and scalable platform that not only leverages a cloud approach through virtualization and clustering hardware, but is also much more energy efficient and flat-out more powerful, robust, and secure.
While we complete this upgrade Wednesday morning, your SQL services may experience approximately 2 hours of intermittent availability.
It is also important to point out that while we'll be fundamentally improving our shared SQL platform from an infrastructure and backend standpoint, you won't see any changes whatsoever in terms of how you interact with your Microsoft SQL database(s). For example, your SQL server address(es) will remain the same and you can continue to add, delete, or modify your SQL database user details in the WebControlCenter as you always have.
